I've brushed up the slideshow which some of you might have seen at the old I like site, where This is M. Sasek started off. There are some pictures from the This is books, mostly This is London, This is Rome, This is Edinburgh and This is San Francisco because they were the only books I had when I started it. It's a good introduction to Sasek, with lots of things that typify the This is books like local transport, happy tourists and people just going about their daily business, all in his inimitable style. There are also examples of some of the things that are in every book, like the title page which always features some kind of local detail, and the picture of Sasek himself leaving his destination having absorbed some of the local character.
Get yourself comfy and take off!

Merci beaucoup to Vincent Mathy who sent in two more Parisian postcards. One of L'Esplanade des Invalides, and one of Le Sacré Coeur. Does anyone have any more?
This is San Francisco was reviewed in the New York Times on 26th July. This is the first review I've seen which focuses on This is San Francisco, rather than This is New York, so its location seemed a little odd, but there you go, maybe New Yorkers get enough of New York without having to read about it. It is short and sweet anyway.

Thanks to all of you who have sent scans of Sasek's Parisian postcards. It seems these postcards have been produced since the 80s or before by Editions Hazan and sold in Paris as souvenirs. They show typical Sasek views of Parisian landmarks such as Notre Dame, and the Arc de Triomphe.
As my copy of This is Paris is in a box somewhere while I move house I can't tell if the Paris cards are illustrations from the book, or prints from paintings. Can anyone help check this?
There are at least two other sets of postcards: those from This is the United Nations, and those featuring pictures from This is Hong Kong so now there is a postcards page. I've also heard that there are other bits and bobs of Sasek memorabilia, such as the legendary This is London tea towel, so if any of you can supply info (and pictures if possible) please get in touch.
